TAX TIP OF THE WEEK HEALTH CARE REFORM ACT: Starting in 2013, an additional 3.8 percent medicare surtax will apply to unearned income which includes interest, dividends, capital gains, rents and royalties. This tax will apply to people with modified adjusted gross income of more than $200,000 if single, $250,000 if married filing jointly.
